Who doesn't love a burger? This is a hamburger but veggie burgers, turkey burgers, chicken burgers, etc. can be made the same way using EVOO for extra taste and health benefits.

Hamburger verses Burger: What's the Difference?

But before getting to the recipe, let's talk about the difference between a hamburger and a burger.

  • A hamburger is a type of sandwich that specifically features a ground beef patty (No, not ham as I thought when I was a little girl!) placed inside a sliced bun or roll. This beef patty -- made of minced or ground beef -- is the core component, and traditionally, often accompanied by toppings like lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, pickles, and various condiments such as ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.

  • On the other hand, the term "burger" is much broader and more inclusive. It refers to any patty served in a bun, which can be made from a variety of meats -- turkey, pork, etc. -- fish, vegetables, legumes, cheese, or plant-based substitutes. For instance veggie burgers, turkey burgers, chicken burgers, fish burgers, and the increasingly popular plant-based burgers. In contemporary language, "burger" has become a catch-all term that encompasses all these variations, including a hamburger, making it more versatile than the term "hamburger."

So, while "hamburger" specifically refers to a ground beef patty sandwich, "burger" is a more general term that can apply to any patty served in a bun, allowing for a wide range of culinary creativity and dietary preferences.

Today we are featuring an especially delicious grilled hamburger you can make at home using olive oil that adds both extra taste and health to your meal.

Recipe: Olive Oil Hamburger

Beef—Main dish

Serves: 4

PJ KABOS Extra Virgin Olive Oil used: Family Reserve Organic Robust

Ingredients

For the Patties:

For the Grilled Vegetables:

For the Sauce:

  • 8 tablespoons mayonnaise

  • 3 teaspoons tomato paste

  • pickles, chopped (optional)

Preparation:

For the Buns: Cut the buns in half and drizzle with olive oil. Toast on the grill until golden and crispy, to add crunch to your burger.

For the Grilled Vegetables: Brush the sliced zucchinis and the sweet peppers with PJ Kabos Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Grill until they are tender and charred. Charring them will add a smoky sweetness to the finished burger.

For the Patties: In a bowl, mix the beef, parsley, red onion, garlic, 1 tablespoon of PJ Kabos Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Dijon mustard, balsamic vinegar, Biker Dude Burger Seasoning, and pepper. Mix well and form into 4 even patties. Brush each patty with additional olive oil. Place the patties on the grill and grill until done, letting the smoky flavors infuse into the meat.

For the Sauce: Combine the mayonnaise with the tomato paste and add chopped pickles if desired (for an extra zest).

To Assemble the Burger:

Spread 1 tablespoon of the sauce on the bottom bun.

Layer with grilled pepper slice, lettuce, the cooked beef patty, grilled zucchini, tomato, and finally, cap it with the top bun.

Dive into the bursting flavors of your Grilled Olive Oil Hamburger and enjoy every bite.

Serving suggestions: French Fries -- fried in PJ Kabos Olive Oil, of course! But a Greek Village Salad goes beautifully too.
